Who I Would Vote For (If I Could)
A little while ago, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama said they were going to be running for President in the 2008 election. They are both strong democratic candidates, and as you can see here, they are also heavily supported.
Out of the Democrats, though my favorite candidate is Al Gore. I found this article in the Rolling Stone, which showed me a lot of reasons why Al Gore is a great choice for President. For one, he did not originally vote to go into Iraq, so he does not have to defend against people saying that it was a bad choice. He also has extensive experience in the Senate and the White House, so he knows what he’s doing. Last but not least, An Inconvenient Truth has opened a lot of people’s eyes on the dangers of global warming, so no one can argue that he isn’t working to save the environment.
There is one snag though, and that’s the fact that he hasn’t official entered the race. If Al Gore runs, there is a good chance he will win, for a few reasons. The first is that he would gain a lot of Hillary Clinton’s support, and that could push him to the lead. Another is that both Grover Cleveland and Andrew Jackson won the popular vote and didn’t win the Presidency, but won on their second tries. The 2008 election is quite far off though, exactly 644 days at this time, so he still has a lot of time to decide whether or not he wants to enter. If Al Gore doesn’t run, though, I’d be both unhappy and surprised.
PS: You may have noticed the lack of updates, and I’m sorry. But, this shows that I do need help in picking the articles, which all of you can provide. Thanks for reading, and possibly all the help.

I like Obama because he is the only candidate so far that has mentioned the current administration’s unacceptably incompetent, perhaps even apathetic, policy in response to Hurricane Katrina and the reconstruction of New Orleans. It is odd that this hasn’t been a major talking point of Bush critics, since it is embarassing what a low priority the White House has given to helping rebuild the city of New Orleans.
Furthermore, Al Gore is a giant douchebag and will not win an election. Obama is smart enough to know what issues he can tackle without alienating himself from moderates. The only reason Gore got so many votes last time is because he was in the previous regime, he cannot wage an effective campaign nor can he be a productive leader if elected. There’s other reason Obama is good, he also appeared on a Monday Night Football intro once.

I do like how Obama said that “All the troops in the world won’t be able to force Shia, Sunni, and Kurd to sit down”, regarding the Iraq war. The book he wrote is also highly ranked. Obama is a good candidate, my friend likes his speeches and would vote for him, but I think Al Gore is a stronger candidate.
Also, when Obama was on Opera, and agreed to get tested for HIV to inspire others too, that was a great thing too. I like Obama, and think he is a great person, but I just favor Al Gore. But, considering how things play out, it may change.
Does anyone else have any comments, or who would you vote for?

I ike the site/blog you did for Meghan Kelley.
I think “my man Al” can win, except I was amazed to read Obama and Hilary are ahead of him in any polls. I like Obama, he just doesn’t seem to have enough experience to get elected. Of course I like Hilary but don’t think she’s electable either. Too many people are vehement Hilary haters.

You guys are overlooking a curcial point in terms of Al Gore being electable: he lost an election to George W. Bush. W does not know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to managing any type of organization, much less an sovigern nation.
In a way, I liken the campaigns of Gore/Kerry to the OJ Simpson prosecuting attorneys–everyone thinks OJ was accquited becuase he was rich, when it was really the responsibility of the prosecution team to present the evidence in a convincing manner and they did not step up to the plate. In this regard, neither Gore nor Kerry ever brought up the fact that W attempted to take over many of his father’s oil ventures and was unsuccessful every time due to his economic/managerial ineptitide. FYI, he was also the president of the Texas Rangers and traded Sammy Sosa for Harold Baines.
In contrast, Bush Jr. was quick to point out that Kerry participated in a Vietnam War protest, knowing that little things like that are worth a certain percentage of votes. You naive Democrats need to find someone who can play the game of politics, which includes a good mix of positive/negative advertisements and political strategies that make sense to your average Joe Voter. Needless to say, Al Gore is not your man.

I’m gonna vote for Prince, and there isn’t a thing you can do to stop me. Woo Purple Rain! rofl.

The only reason that Gore ‘lost’ to Bush is because almost half of the country didn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground either. Not to mention the stolen state.
Edit by Conner: Why not, it’s a bit harsh, but nothing all true Gore lovers weren’t thinking.

Nice table, I like what Gore stands for and doesn’t try to hide anything or go around issues adn questions like our presidnt does now if you payy attention to how his answer realatesto the question. Obama is probably the second person i would support, but sadly in this day and age he proabaly wil not win because of his race which is sad in a democracy but people are people.
